What is the New Technology Training Scheme about?
The New Technology Training Scheme is a funding scheme of the Innovation and Technology Commission of the government. It is administered by the VTC Committee on Technologist Training to provide assistance to companies that wish to have their staff trained in a new technology that would be useful to their business. It is funded by interest income generated from a New Technology Training Fund established for the purpose.
Applying for the Scheme
Employers Eligible for the Scheme
Any non-government subvented organisation in Hong Kong wishing to acquire a new technology for commercial application may apply for training grant under the Scheme.
Trainees Eligible for the Scheme
Any permanent resident in Hong Kong who is sponsored by his employer and has the necessary background/experience to benefit from the training will be eligible.
Course Description
Architectural Design Practice with BIM is a hands-on training course on Building Information Modeling (BIM) and the practical use of related software tools. In the course, participants will use Autodesk Revit Architecture 2010 for hands-on practice, covering essential to advanced level features and functions.
The course equips the trainees with the knowledge and skills to become a competent BIM operator or administrator. Course participants will be provided with the Autodesk Official Training Guide, which is excellent training and reference material for BIM implementation. The course is 30 hour long and costs $7200, which becomes $3600 after getting NTTS subsidy.
The Revit platform is Autodesk’s purpose-built solution for BIM, which is changing the way how architects and engineers create and manage their designs. With Revit’s parametric design engine, a dynamic 3D model is generated to replace a whole series of traditional CAD drawings. BIM assembles all information into one location and cross-link data intelligently. A change in one view of the model will propagate to all other views of the same model to update related changes, allowing designers to have a much more effective way to create, control, and display information. BIM improves visualization, minimizes errors, save costs, and allows better predictability and planning. The course aims at providing professional training for participants to acquire the knowledge and skills to use the Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology provided by Revit Architecture. Upon course completion, you will be able to:
- understand the benefits of building information modeling
- use Revit Architecture and parametric 3D design tools to design projects, create detailing and drafting views, create conceptual designs, create construction documentation, and use the presentation tools for presenting models
Course Prerequisites
A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows XP or a later Windows version. No previous CAD experience is necessary; however, architectural design, drafting, or engineering experience is highly recommended. The course offers both imperial and metric hands-on exercises representing real-world design scenarios.
